After scoring twice in Newcastle United's defeat at Camp Nou on Wednesday evening, Anthony Elanga is looking for more in the Tyne-Wear derby at St. James' Park on Sunday.

United were ultimately beaten in Barcelona despite twice levelling the game, and the tie, in the first half through Elanga.

First, the Sweden international finished off a swift counter-attack with a cool finish, then tapped home to make it 2-2 before the La Liga leaders ran away with the second half.

But the visit of Sunderland on Sunday provides an opportunity to bounce straight back - and extend a run of two straight wins in the Premier League - and the importance of the derby is not lost on Elanga. Here are some of his post-match thoughts from Barcelona.

On the Camp Nou defeat...

"We're all disappointed as a group, especially (after) the first half that we delivered. I think we all came back into the changing room thinking 'we've got a game here, we can really do something.' And then the second half is one of those where we won't be happy with the goals that we conceded, but it's something that we could look at and see where we can improve. And we've got another big game to come now on Sunday.

"Of course, it's not nice to go out of the competition, but I think we've had an amazing campaign. The fans have been amazing, home and away, and I think this should just give us more motivation and energy to really finish the season strong and be back here again next season."

On a game of two halves…

"We had a plan and we stuck to the plan really well in the first half. They couldn't really handle us, the way we played in the first half. We should have probably had that same intensity in the second half - there's probably too much space, and when you give space to a team like this, they'll punish you. When you make errors or concede the way we did, a team like this will punish you. We've just got to try and take some positives out of this game and make Sunday even better."

On his first-half penalty claim at 2-2…

"I feel like there was contact and I think if the referee gives theirs, I don't know why he didn't give ours. I'm going to have a look at it again to really see."

On his Barça brace…

"Personally I'm really happy with that. I'm ambitious, though. I want those goals to turn to wins. I want to help the team get through to the next round. That's my ambition.

"Of course, I'm happy to score two goals here. From young, it's a dream come true to play at this stadium, so I'll try and take the momentum and try and make sure that Sunday gets even better."

On Sunday's Tyne-Wear derby…

"It should give us motivation again, because we're (back) in the Premier League, and we want to keep the momentum we've had the last two games and building it.

"It's the biggest game of the season. We owe it to the fans as well, especially (from) the first time we played Sunderland this season. We need to use the energy and momentum we're building and make sure St. James' is bouncing."
