The summer signing from Brentford comes in as one of six changes to the side beaten by Sunderland in the Premier League at the weekend.

Aaron Ramsdale, Tino Livramento, Malick Thiaw, Bruno Guimarães and Lewis Miley keep their places in the starting XI.

Dan Burn is injured - he suffered "a rib problem and an issue with his lungs", according to Eddie Howe, following a first half challenge with Nordi Mukiele at the Stadium of Light - while Sandro Tonali, Anthony Elanga, Anthony Gordon and Nick Woltemade drop to the bench. Lewis Hall is not in the squad.

Wissa, Fabian Schär, Jacob Ramsey, Harvey Barnes, Jacob Murphy and Joe Willock come in.

Joelinton would equal Rob Lee's record 23 appearances in this competition if he enters the fray at any point. The Brazilian has six goals for the club in the League Cup; only Malcolm Macdonald, Andy Cole, Shola Ameobi, Alan Shearer and Alan Gowling have more.

Should Thiaw, Joelinton or Schär be booked tonight, they'd be suspended for the first leg of any semi-final if United were to progress.

Full-back Leo Shahar, 18, is among the substitutes and could make his Newcastle debut.
